Get the Most Juice Out of an Orange
To get the most juice out of a fresh orange roll it back and forth on the counter pressing hard with the heel of your hand. Then pop it in the microwave for about 20 seconds. You will be surprised how much more juice comes out of that orange. This tip also works with lemons.

Let the blender clean itself
When you are done using your blender to purée or liquefy something, and the food has been completely removed, fill the pitcher about halfway with hot water and add a few drops of dish detergent. Put the cover back on the blender and turn it on for 15 or 20 seconds. Take it over to the sink and rinse it completely with hot water and it will be sparkling clean.

Helping mushrooms last longer
Mushroom stored in a paper bag will not get slimy and deteriorate like those left in plastic produce containers. Mushrooms can be stored in the refrigerator for up to two weeks if you put them in a small paper bag and close the top. It is best to put a paper towel in the bottom of the bag for added protection.
